Traditional rulers have been advised not to overstate their land to help fill the housing deficit in the countryside.

It is evident that acquiring large tracts of land has become a Herculean task over time, especially in developing countries.

These difficulties result from the alienation of rural land caused by insecurity and land conflicts. Chiefs are sometimes criticized for such problems because they are seen as stewards of the land.

Ghana Real Estate Meet-up Public Relations Officer Mr. Anastas Anderson, who made the statement at the third edition of the Ghana Real Estate Meet-up in Accra, has warned that if the scourge persists he will drive out investors .

This, he said, the Ghana Real Estate Meet-up, was aimed at addressing all of these challenges facing the real estate sector.

Ghana Real Estate Meet Up is an all-issue networking and investing event that has attracted all stakeholders in the real estate industry. The event also highlighted the country’s real estate and industrial opportunities.

“This year being the year of return, many visitors will be coming to Ghana, so there must be a standard that attracts so that members of the diaspora send a positive message,” he said.

Western Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Takoradi, the Honorable Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, assured Ghanaians that the government will continue to support the real estate sector.

He took the opportunity to urge all investors to invest in the Western region when it comes to real estate.

According to him, the western region has more when it comes to natural resources. “If you want to earn money, come to the western region, because 98% of Ghana’s raw materials come from the western region,” he revealed.

Mr. Paulo Cruz, Managing Director of Landagrique, also urged the government and real estate industry players to work together to close the housing gap in Ghana.

Mr. Paulo Cruz advised developers to take into account 0.5% of middle-income Ghanaians when evaluating their properties.
