A group of local builders met with several Dubbo realtors to discuss concerns about the housing shortage in the area.
The Resident Builders Group (RBG) met with members of REINSW-Orana Division (REI) to discuss the continuing shortage of residential housing opportunities in Dubbo.
The two groups will meet with the Dubbo Regional Council on November 29, and spokespersons for both groups are eager to address current issues.
“The first meeting of the Dubbo Regional Council Reference Group is welcome,” RBG spokespersons Brad Acheson and REI’s Bob Berry said in a joint statement.
“It is hoped that the formation of a working group of the two real estate industry organizations will help the Dubbo Regional Council deal with the current housing under-supply in Dubbo.”
Independent home builders are increasingly concerned with the current supply of land to meet homeowner demands to build in 2022, Acheson said.
When it comes to real estate, rental demand is currently huge in Dubbo, putting pressure to increase the supply of investment houses that tenants can move into.
A housing reference group proposal emerged from the Housing Availability Forum of the Dubbo Regional Council of Residential Housing Actors held in June.
The main focus of the Reference Group will be to assist the council by informing them of market movements and demands as new developments create housing demands in the future.
Both RBG and REI believe that some big Dubbo developers have construction contracts until 2023, indicating demand for available housing lots.
