According to its semi-annual investor sentiment report, commercial real estate data platform Lightbox found that real estate investors are increasingly concerned about a possible recession. In fact, 90% of survey respondents were concerned about the possibility of a future recession. Survey participants included commercial real estate professionals from brokerage firms, investment firms, and other real estate segments. About a third of survey respondents said they were “very worried” about a recession, while 56% said they were just “worried”. Only 10% said they weren’t worried at all. The survey, which was conducted in August and September, also reflected concerns about the impact of rising interest rates, inflation and supply chain disruption. Looking to the rest of 2022, most respondents were not optimistic about the real estate market, but 42% were more optimistic about 2023. Additionally, 80% of respondents said rising interest rates , high inflation and other issues had impacted their hiring strategy. , while 40% said they only hire for high-priority needs.
